The Banks Monster-Ram Intake improves airflow from the intercooler, it increases airflow in your Cummins to 906CFM (69.22 lbs/min) compared to stocks measly 432CFM (33.00 lbs/min). By doing this, it raises your boost without increasing backpressure at the turbine.
